Autumn / Winter Picnic
Is there a better way to spend a sunny Autumn afternoon than a spontaneous picnic with family, friends or just a good book for company.
Here are a few tips and essentials to have to hand before you head out this season.
2 or 3 blankets, layer up for damp cold ground.
Basket
Food Flask
Drink Flask
Cutlery & Napkins
Rubbish Bag
Book, Game, Music
Hat, Gloves, Scarf, Sunglasses
Whether you go all out with the food and arrangements or just enjoy a walk and a bit of lunch yourself that's the beauty of a picnic, it's totally flexible and can be what you want it to be.
Take it to the park or beach, make it a party, music, hot chocolate, cakes, find a sunny spot and enjoy.
I've been enjoying adding mini picnics into daily life and am regularly seen walking the dog with blanket, flask and cake to stop and enjoy before heading home.

Food
For cold days out a food flask makes all the difference. Warm soup, a pasta dish, casserole or if you're out early a pot of porridge will all warm you and revive you after a few hours out and about exploring over the winter months.
Crusty rolls filled with thick sliced, homecooked smoked ham and mustard or tuna with a shot of Tabasco are favourite winter warmers too.
Never one to forget about something sweet, Dutch Apple Cake, Treacle Tart and Ginger & Walnut Traybake make perfect sense in your autumn basket.
Post Christmas the leftover sandwich filling options are endless and who's not ready for some fresh air and excercise by then! Keep it simple with brie & cranberry, smoked salmon with a cream cheese and horseradish dressing and turkey & stuffing.
Spring / Summer Picnic
Fresh spring mornings and long summer days are what picnics are made for.
Children's birthdays are made so much easier if you can take it all outdoors, a picnic in the park with games, music & a few friends, maybe take a boat out or go for a swim, you just need a few basics to make any picnic a real celebration!
